Casey Propane - Uses of Propane
PROPANE IS USED FOR MORE THAN JUST GRILLS
Pool and Spa Heaters
Propane pool and spa heaters bring the water to the temperature you want more quickly than an electric or solar heater. And on average they maintain that temperature more cost-effectively.
Propane Grills
More than 63 Percent of homeowners who cook outdoors use propane gas grills (according to the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association). Propane gas grills are fast- theres no wait for charcoal to ignite and heat up. Propane gas grills are clean, theres no charcoal residue or ash to dispose of and no harmful pollutants to worry about.
Insect Control
New mosquito eliminators protect up to an acre of land from these invaders. These eliminators use a remarkably effective design. They turn propane into carbon dioxide, heat and moisture, the primary attractants for mosquitoes. When mosquitoes fly toward the eliminator, they’re soon history. They are vacuumed into a net where they dehydrate and die. Your backyard is now a mosquito free zone.
Patio Heaters
The patio season has been extended since propane patio heaters can make cool nights quite cozy. These heaters provide up to a 20 foot circle of radiant heat and raise the outdoor temperature between 10 and 30 degrees. Patio heaters are available in several sizes, including tabletop.
Hot Water Heaters
Propane gives you more hot water at an affordable price. That’s why millions of American homes use propane to heat water for their showers, washing machines and dishwashers. According to the American Water Heater Company, propane water heaters are up to 30 percent less expensive to operate than electric heaters and have a recovery rate nearly twice as fast. Propane water heaters require less storage space, have more accurate temperature adjustment and have a wider selection of sizes, installation, and venting options. The average hot water heater customer will consume between 250 and 400 gallons annually.
Backup Generators
Power outages can happen anytime, anywhere, and they can pose a serious inconvenience and even a health risk to you and your family. Standby home generators can provide a reliable source of electricity for your home in the event of a power outage, even when you aren’t there. On average, a 250-gallon propane tank fueling a seven- kilowatt standby generator would provide enough electricity to power a homes basic needs for several days, while a 500 gallon underground tank would provide power for more than a week.
Clothes Dryer
Propane dryers dry clothes more efficiently and are less expensive to operate, about half the cost of electric dryers according to the us department of energy. Propane dryers quickly reach the temperatures needed to dry clothes evenly. Proapane dryers also cause less wear and tear on fabrics.
Outdoor Lighting
Propane gas lighting offers homeowners efficiency and reliability. Propane tanks are portable, versatile, and easy to use in remote locations. Lamps will continue to function in the event of a power outage. Propane fueled outdoor lighting fixtures are lamps are available in portable, wall- mounted, and post- mounted styles. Many designs are available, including modern and antique style lamps.
Cooking with Propane Gas
Cook with gas can be significantly cheaper than cooking with electricity. Propane fueled ovens and ranges give you greater control with precise temperature and even heat distribution. Propane gas burners also cool quickly.
Underground Tanks
Propane can fuel a home discreetly, almost invisibly, from underground tanks. Once a propane tank is buried, only a small dome is visable and only mere inches above the ground. The dome houses valves, gauges and regulators, allowing for easy servicing and refilling. Even large capacity tanks can be installed with minimal visual intrusion, while still providing the clean, efficient comfort of propane energy.
Propane Fireplaces
Fireplaces and other hearth products are now found in almost 65 percent of all new homes according to the Hearth, Pation and Barbecue Association. A traditional fireplace requires a damper to be open while in use, allowing large amounts of heat to escape. Direct vent gas inserts have a sealed combustion chamber, reducing the amount of heat escaping to the outside and ensuring that more heat is radiated into the room. Propane fireplaces turn on and off easily with a switch or remote control eliminating the worry about remaining embers. Also, propane fireplace eliminate lugging wood through your home, and the messy cleanup of wood fires.
Propane Furnaces
Propane furnaces offer you warmer air. Heating a home with gas costs half as much on average as heating with electricity according to the US Department of Energy. Propane fueled furnaces are smaller and last 15 to 20 years, that’s five to 10 years longer than electric heat pumps on average. Propane can keep your home warm and comfortable during electrical power outages.
Space Heaters
Vent free, propane fueled space heaters are easy to install and incredible efficient. In fact, based on manufacturers data, they’re 99.9 percent efficient. These heaters also include a smart safety feature called an oxygen depletion sensor. This device protects against the dangers of carbon monoxide by automatically turning off the heater if oxygen levels drop below specified thresholds. Propane fueled space heaters also produce fewer air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions than space heaters using fuel oil.
