Choose Propane for Versatility

Think propane is just for barbecues? Think again!

Here are 12 ways to use efficient, safe, clean propane in your home:

Water heaters
Propane water heaters cost up to 30% less to operate than electric heaters, with a recovery rate that’s nearly twice as fast. Propane water heaters also need less storage space, have more accurate temperature adjustment and offer more size, installation and venting options.
Furnaces
Propane furnaces heat your home for about half the cost of electricity, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Propane-fueled furnaces are smaller and last 15 to 20 years—about 50% longer than electric heat pumps on average. Propane can also keep your home warm during power outages.
Clothes dryers
Propane dryers run about twice as efficiently as electric dryers, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. They also cause less wear and tear on fabrics.
Fireplaces
A traditional fireplace requires an open damper while in use, which enables large amounts of heat to escape. But with sealed combustion chambers, propane fireplaces keep more heat radiating into the room. Just flip a switch and enjoy an evening in front of the fire, with no woodpile mess.
Ovens and ranges
Propane ovens and ranges are significantly less expensive to run than electric units and give you greater control for cooking, with more precise temperature control and more even heat distribution. Propane gas burners also cool quickly.
Space heaters
Vent-free propane space heaters are easy to install and incredibly efficient. And with built-in oxygen depletion sensors, they’ll automatically turn off if oxygen levels drop too low, preventing carbon monoxide build up. Propane space heaters also burn cleaner, with fewer pollutants and emissions than fuel oil space heaters.
Cooking grills
Propane gas grills are fast to heat up and clean, with no charcoal, residue, ash or harmful pollutants to worry about.
Pool and spa heaters
Propane pool and spa heaters warm water quickly and are usually more cost effective than an electric or solar heater.
Patio heaters
Extended your patio season with a propane heater, which can raise outdoor temperatures by up to 30 degrees within a 20-foot radius. Patio heaters are available in multiple sizes to suit your needs.
Outdoor lighting
Efficient and reliable propane gas lighting is portable, versatile and easy to use in remote locations and during a power outage. Fixtures are available in modern and antique styles to match your home decor.
Underground tanks
Propane can fuel a home discreetly from underground tanks, where only a small dome protrudes, just inches aboveground for easy servicing and refilling. Even high-capacity tanks can be installed with little visual intrusion.
Backup generators
Power outages can pose a serious inconvenience and even health risks to your family. On average, a 250-gallon propane tank fueling a 7-kilowatt standby generator would provide enough electricity to power a home for several days; a 500-gallon underground tank would provide power for more than a week.
