Ready for winter?
We’re well into fall and winter isn’t far away, so we hope you’ve had your annual heating tune-up done. That service can lower your chance of a winter breakdown.
If you haven’t done so already, ask us to have your fuel oil delivery lines inspected and replaced with new piping encased in a protective sleeve. This prevents damage to the fuel lines and minimizes the chance of a leak.
Those of you with a propane generator should also prepare for winter. Keep a full tank of fuel so your generator will keep running during any power outages.
If you have a seasonal home, it’s vital to prepare your vacant residence for the cold weather. You don’t want your heating system to stop working, perhaps due to a thermostat problem, lack of fuel or a malfunctioning boiler. With no heat, pipes can freeze, burst and cause costly water damage. We cannot be held liable if this happens.
That’s why we urge you to do the following if your home will be unoccupied for any length of time.
- Get automatic deliveries.
- Have someone check your home regularly and often.
- Ask us to install a Gremlin Tank Monitor; this takes ultrasonic readings of the fuel level in your tank, and sends those readings over the Internet to us on a daily basis. With this precision, we can ensure that you get exactly the fuel you need, when you need it.
- Visually inspect tank, piping and fuel line. If a leak is detected, please notify us.
